I’ve finally discovered how to combat overwhelm. This has taken most of my adult life to come for me. As soon as I entered college the feeling of overwhelm began and has gotten progressively more intense as the years have gone on. When I became a portal for two precious children the intensity of it was magnified to a level that felt infinite.

And then I came to understand this…

There’s nothing you need to do other than focus on feeling good. Until you are chronically feeling good, demanding that you feel good, noticing that you’re feeling good, and appreciating that you’re feeling good, you don’t need to do anything else.

And I started practicing shifting to this anytime the overwhelm hit. Just legging go of whatever outcomes I was attached to in the moment of overwhelm, and changing my activity or perspective in order to accomplish feeling good.

It’s a practice. Certainly not something that can become habit without exercise.

But when you’ve done it successfully a couple of times, and lifted your head up out of the overwhelm for a deep, life-giving breathe of feeling good right in the thick of it… you start getting used to it. You start feeling like it is worth it, to let go of those expected outcomes, and just enjoy life for a moment. You start getting the knack of it and the idea of it comes more often.

You start feeling like breathing is natural. Like you’ve got this. Like things are going to be okay.

And that feels good. More and more of the time.

Play around with it. Try letting go of all those expectations you’ve put on yourself and accepted when others put them on you too. Try opening up to the idea that you GET to feel good. Not only do you get to feel good, but that feeling good is the ONLY thing you need to do.

And, share in the comments your examples if you try this. I’d love to hear what makes YOU feel good!

All my love,
